The Last Blockbuster

I really enjoyed this. It just gave me so many nostalgic good feelings. It doesn’t even feel like that long ago that I was still going to Blockbuster. Something I hadn’t thought about in forever is how, if the new release we really wanted to see wasn’t in stock, we’d just go hang out at the counter and look at what people were returning, and snag it as they turned it in. It was like a game, and I loved it. There’s a lot to be said for the ease and variety available with all the streaming services, but there really was something special about going with your friends or family to the video store, and all trying to decide what you should get. I miss it.

Mortal Kombat

This movie is not good. The only kinda fun part was the Scorpion/Sub-Zero fight. Ugh.

The Mitchells vs. The Machines

This is a fun family movie. It’s obviously pretty ridiculous and over-the-top, but it’s a silly animated move, so whatever. The animation is super cool, weaving in all sorts of styles, and the voices are really great. Definitely worth a viewing.

Overall, this is a good movie. The acting is good, the times of suspense are good, but, man, it’s slow. And in the end, it feels like not much happened. I think it’s worth watching, but it’s nothing new or groundbreaking.
