Bad Trip

This movie is nuts and I loved it. I haven’t laughed out loud that much in a long time. It’s Eric Andre humor all the way. So if you like that, you’ll like this. If you don’t know who he is, there’s a good chance you won’t like this. Ha!

We decided to watch all the movies from the MonsterVerse leading up to the new Godzilla vs. Kong premiere. It’s probably my least favorite of the four, but it starts off the story in a decent way.

Kong: Skull Island

This isn’t a fantastic movies, but there are some fantastic things about it. First, I like Kong stories way more than Godzilla stories, so there’s that. Also, the cinematography in this movie is super rad. The cast is great, and the story is pretty cool. And it feels a lot like a war movie, which is cool. There are a lot of silly moments, but overall, it’s a good flick.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

This one steps things up a notch from the first Godzilla by giving us a ton of monsters. It’s a lot of fun. I still don’t care for Godzilla as much as Kong, but you can’t help but root for him here.

Godzilla vs. Kong

This wins. This movie has a bit of everything. Obviously the spectacle of it all is there. Visually it’s really beautiful and engaging. The graphics are amazing. The cast is fantastic. There’s much more of a sci-fi element to this one, which makes it different and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed watching them all before seeing this one, but you can definitely watch this on its on a enjoy yourself.

Thunder Force

This was fine. It’s got some pretty funny parts. Good enough for some mindless entertainment.

I Care A Lot

I really liked this movie for the most part. There are no real good guys, so you can’t really root for anyone, but that made it kinda fun. Towards the end of the movie the dialogue gets pretty terrible, and they make some dumb decisions, but the very end was solid and I dug. Overall, worth a watch.

Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry

I thought this was a really great music documentary. I liked Billie’s music already, but seeing her family dynamic and how much passion she puts into performing for her fans, gave me even more appreciation for her (and her brother). If you like music docs, you’ll probably like this. If you like Billie, you surely will.

I loved this. Seeing Bob Odenkirk kick a whole lot of butt was just what I needed, apparently. The movie is really action-packed, subtly funny, and just a whole lot of fun. Sure, it’s a bit over-the-top, especially at the end, but it definitely made me smile watching the bad guys go down.

Monster Hunter

Sound of Metal

This is a super unique movie about a drummer who loses his hearing. The use of sound design to put you inside his head was fascinating and really helped you feel for what he was dealing with. I really liked how you never really knew where the movie was going. The only slight downside to the whole thing was that it was pretty slow, and kinda long, but I don’t know that it could’ve or should’ve been any other way. Also, Riz Ahmed was fantastic.
