The Lego Batman Movie

Meh. I LOVED the first Lego Movie, but this one felt kinda forced. The jokes were really obvious, and I just couldn’t quite get into it. I had to watch it in two sittings. The animation was still awesome, the voices/acting were good, and the story was fine, but it just didn’t ever really click for me.

mother!

This movie is crazy nut balls. I found it super interesting, but super confusing. A lot of the time it just felt like nonsense. Once Sheena looked up an explanation of what we were watching, everything became clear. I think it’s probably better to watch it without knowing its purpose beforehand, but definitely read about it afterwards. It’s a hard one to watch, but it’s a really unique and thought-provoking movie.

Ingrid Goes West

Going into it, I had no idea what this movie was about. I’m kinda glad, because I’m not sure I would’ve seen it, or at least cared to, had I known the premise. But just describing the premise doesn’t really do the movie justice. I think this may be my favorite thing Aubrey Plaza has done, because she actually seems to be acting, instead of just doing her normal annoyed girl thing. This may look like a comedy, and there are some funny parts, but it’s definitely more depressing than it is fun. Oh, and I really liked O’Shea Jackson Jr. Definitely my favorite character in the movie.

It

First, I’ve never seen the original version of this movie, so my thoughts are solely based on this as a stand-alone. And I dug it. It’s not amazing, and I didn’t really find it scary, but I love a good story about a group of kids up against a “bad guy.” And these kids are awesome. Not a weak link in the bunch. I look forward to seeing Part 2, since I have no idea how the original story goes.
