Argo

Although a bit slow at times, I really enjoyed this movie. Even knowing that they were going to get out safe, the “escape” scenes were pretty never-racking. There was a part that was built up to be super suspenseful, and it worked, but the whole senario didn’t seem believable to me at all. But, it wasn’t that big of a deal. The acting was superb. It was really cool seeing Rory Cochrane. He was in two of my favorite movies as a teenager, Dazed and Confused and Empire Records, and I haven’t seen him in anything in a long time. This is definitely a movie worth seeing.

Snowtown

I wouldn’t recommend this movie. It’s pretty confusing, and really hard to watch. There are some super disturbing scenes. And it’s based on a true story, which makes it even creepier. The acting is phenomenal, but probably not worth sitting through it for. Crazy stuff.

Life of Pi

There are parts of this movie I really love. There are also parts I really hate. Visually, this thing is excellent. The tiger alone is worth seeing the movie for. It’s amazing. The acting is great, and the story, for the most part, is very interesting. As amazing as it was visually, I hated the way it was edited. Being an editor, I might pay attention more than most, but it was just really distracting to me. I felt like they were trying too hard to be neat or clever or something, and it didn’t help with the storytelling at all. I also hated the end. Well, most of the end. I won’t ruin it. I’m still on the fence about the very, very end. At times I like it and at times I don’t. See it for yourself. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

I like these. They’re just silly kids’ movies. The first one is definitely the best, but if you liked the other two, you’ll like this one, too.

Pitch Perfect

Pretty dang funny. It’s not amazing by any stretch, but it was good for a funny, mindless, weeknight movie. Even though some of her jokes fall flat, I thought Rebel Wilson stole the show. Anna Kendrick did a good job, too. I like her. The end.
