The Dictator

There are some really funny parts. There are some really stupid parts. There are a lot of really mediocre parts. I think Anna Faris will always annoy me. Maybe that’s her role in this world? In conclusion, and in summary, this movie is probably exactly what you expect.

The Dark Knight Rises

I loved this movie. Loved it. I mostly loved the ending. I did not love that everyone talked so quietly that I couldn’t understand them sometimes. Michael Caine deserves an Oscar. Ann Hathaway was surprisingly good. I always love Joseph Gordon-Levitt (although that bike messenger movie looks dumb). There were a few parts I had problems with (one actually made me laugh out loud), but I think the plot and execution were both excellent. A great conclusion to a great trilogy. It was maybe a tad bit too long, but I still can’t wait to see it again.

I didn’t really know what this movie was about before I watched it, and it was much more interesting that way, so I’ll keep you in the dark as well. I will say that it’s based on a true story, and it’s kinda part documentary. It’s a dark comedy, and has some pretty funny moments. Jack Black and Shirley MacLaine are a great pair, and do an excellent job. It’s a pretty slow movie, but I felt like it was continually interesting enough that I was never bored. Mainly because I had no idea what was coming. It probably wouldn’t have been as intriguing had I known the story beforehand.  I read this today (don’t read it until after you see the movie), and it’s crazy nuts how accurate everything is in this movie. Seriously.

Source Code

I never thought I’d actually see this movie, but I did, so there’s that. Honestly, it wasn’t all that bad. It’s an interesting enough idea, and the ending is pretty cool, so I’d say it’s worth seeing. But it’s got a lot of flaws. Of course, with this kind of movie, as I’ve said before, you kind of have to shut off your brain and just enjoy the ride. Except with this movie they’re trying to be all smart and it makes you want to think about what their talking about which then makes you realize how dumb it is. But whatever. Here’s something important you should know… the soundtrack to this movie is absolutely horrible. Sheena started laughing immediately as the opening credits began rolling. I think she said something like “this music sounds like it belongs in a children’s fantasy movie.” She continued to comment on the soundtrack throughout. This is important because I don’t think Sheena has ever mentioned a soundtrack in the history of us watching movies together. That’s how bad it is. Anyway… worth watching on Netflix or something.
