The Wrestler

After watching Black Swan, Sheena decided she finally wanted to see this movie, which meant I finally got to see it. I have to say, I liked it a lot more than Black Swan. It wasn’t as weird or confusing. It was as depressing, though. Aronofsky is the king of making movies I’ll only see once. But at least he makes them well. I will say that this movie wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. It probably seemed tame since we’d just seen Black Swan, but it wasn’t all that horrifying, just sad. As usually, this isn’t something I’d necessarily recommend, but I’m glad I saw it.

The Fall

I’d been wanting to see this movie for quite some time. It was written and directed by Tarsem, the man behind The Cell, which I really liked, especially visually. This one is visually quite beautiful, as well. It’s the story of a man and a little girl, both stuck in a hospital, where the man begins to tell the girl wild stories. It’s a unique movie, and the main story he tells is pretty exciting to watch unfold, mixing both of their imaginations, and his want/need for more medication. The film is woven pretty uniquely, from seeing the stories told, to watching the stories, to other things going on around the hospital; and I think that’s why I liked it so much. It’s just a very unique movie. Definitely worth checking out if you get a chance.
