A selection from “A Bad Case of the Oreos” by John Fischer (in Relevant magazine)

As Christians, we are far more like non-Christians than we are different, and this should be noted and celebrated. It is in knowing we are sinners that we can be saved, and unless someone has figured out a way to stop sinning, this similarity will continue as long as we are in these bodies. We sin along with the whole race – Adam … you … me … the rest of the world … we’re all in this together. We sin together, we come into the light together, and we get forgiven together (1 John 1:7).

It’s time to make a big deal about our similarities with the rest of humanity, and get off this differences kick. If God’s love can reach us, sinners that we are, and give us hope, it can do the same for anybody.
